Are you always on the move? Keeping busy can make us happier, at least this is the conclusion of research published in Psychological Science
In one of two experiments, without any direction or justification people chose to be idle
In the second experiment where justification was given, people were motivated to be busy and became happier.
Interestingly, the reason to be busy didn't have to be completely credible to motivate the participants.
And here's the thing, the researchers believe that we set ourselves goals to keep ourselves busy... even if the goals themselves are not the right goals.
In my last blog I wrote about the connection between a range of outcomes and goal setting, sure, setting a goal and working towards it might make you happy, but what other outcomes is that goal providing, will it make you content in the long term?
